Problem Statement
Ola EV users face small but real challenges in daily rides especially when it comes to quick access, ride alerts, and personal safety. While the scooter has a built-in screen, it’s not always convenient or safe to interact with it while riding or away from the scooter.
Role & Responsibilities
Conducted user research to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points, performed competitive analysis to identify industry trends and opportunities, defined problem statements and created user personas and empathy maps, created wireframes, user flows, and information architecture, brainstormed and ideated multiple design solutions using design thinking, designed feature concepts and prioritized functionality, built color palette and typography system, designed high-fidelity UI screens following brand and accessibility guidelines, created visual mockups with a strong focus on minimalism, and maintained consistency through reusable UI components and design systems.
Solution Approach
The proposed solution creates a smarter, safer, and more connected riding experience by integrating Ola EV scooters with smartwatches, making essential controls and information instantly accessible from the rider’s wrist. It enables features such as lock and unlock, and real-time battery status checks without relying on a mobile phone. The system delivers instant alerts for charging status, theft attempts, or maintenance updates, supported by subtle vibration feedback for critical situations like tampering or theft detection. It also enhances safety by automatically notifying emergency contacts in case of accidents or sudden stops. Additionally, ride data is seamlessly tracked and synced with smartwatch health apps, allowing users to monitor their rides alongside daily activity metrics such as steps, calories, and duration. This approach transforms the smartwatch into a powerful extension of the scooter, improving accessibility, safety, and overall riding confidence.
